Message from the President
Welcome to a new year of SMPS Michigan programs. We have a great year planned ahead to help you achieve your personal goals as well as increase your value in your organization. SMPS Michigan members – this is your year! This year’s programs are solely focused on helping you achieve your goals and engaging you within the organization to maximize the benefits of your membership. We have themed this year’s program series, “Invest in You.”
Earlier this year, the board polled our membership to understand what is working and what is not, what you are looking for, and what you expect from the organization. Thank you everyone who responded to this survey. We reviewed these results and are now utilizing them to guide our programming and initiatives for 2011 and 2012.
One of the greatest benefits of this organization is the ability to network with other marketing and business development professionals in our chapter. Therefore, we have initiated “Thirsty Thursday” social networking events at three Metro Detroit establishments with the sole purpose of developing personal relationships. See the events page of our website for more details on dates, times and locations.
This year we will also be rolling out a new SMPS Michigan chapter website. We have teamed with Star Chapter to develop a new website, which is simpler to use and edit as well provides comprehensive chapter management features to increase board efficiency. What does this mean to you? The SMPS Michigan Website will have more up-to-date information on programs, jobs and social events on a regular basis. In addition to our website, don’t forget to check us out on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Board of Directors and Committee Members that donate their time and energy to make our programs and events possible. On behalf of our members, thank you very much for volunteering your time and energy in developing the programming and managing the chapter. Without your effort, SMPS Michigan would not be possible.
This will surely be another great year for SMPS Michigan. Let’s learn together, have fun together, and help each other improve ourselves and our firms.
I look forward to meeting you at any of the upcoming programs and networking events.
Daniel J. Stys, PE
